Secret et poétique, le jardin suspendu se cache derrière des hauts murs dans la petite ville de Mons qui etait l’année passéel a co-capitale de la culture européenne.
Ce petit parc existe depuis très longtemps, mais n’est plus ouvert depuis de longues années. Situé au dessus d’une ancienne boulangerie militaire, il avait pour vocation de protéger le bâtiment grâce à son épaisse couche de terre en cas de bombardement. Petit à petit la nature a repris ses droits et la végétation s’est développée, plantes, arbres ornent à présent le jardin.
Dans les année 90 , la ville décida de le restaurer pour en faire un parc, celui-ci ferma en 2010 , pour être ensuite réouvrir à l’occasion de Mons2015 et son projet culturel » Mon(s) invisible » . Le jardin suspendu doit en principe fermé d’ici quelques jours, mais des négociations sont en cours pour éventuellement le laisser ouvert … (*)
C’est un endroit hors du temps, extrêmement calme et agréable. Mons2015 y a installer des petites cabines pour se reposer et lire a son aise, de nombreuses activités communautaires y ont été organisées depuis sa réouverture , pour vous tenir au courant, c’est sur facebook .
En pratique :
- (*) Le jardin suspendu est ouvert TOUS LES DIMANCHE de 10H à 18H à partir du13 mars 2016 jusqu’en octobre.
